there’s this girl at my school, she started coming here at the beginning of the year. I remember first seeing her and thinking, “wow, she’s really pretty.” We’re in the same drama class, and after a few weeks I developed a crush on her.
But since the start of the year, she’s liked a different guy pretty much every week. Then one weekend she texted me and said she liked me. I liked her too, and for a second I thought, “wow, maybe this could actually work.” But I didn’t realize how intense she could be over text. She started messaging me constantly telling me she missed me every morning, during the day, before class, and even minutes after we’d just hung out. Like, we’d see each other and four minutes later she’d text “I already miss you.”
Her friends even warned me, saying she likes a new guy every week and that this week it just happens to be me. Then she started sending messages like: “I can’t wait until you ask me to be your girlfriend.” “When are you going to ask me?” “Are you going to ask me next week?” “Please tell me.” It went on and on like that. Earlier that same night, we’d actually had a really nice call for about an hour, and I genuinely enjoyed it. But right after that, she started spamming me with all those texts, and I just got super overwhelmed. Eventually, I decided to be honest with her. I said: “ Hey, sorry, so I did some thinking and I’m trying to focus on school and I feel like it would be better for me to just be friends.” She hasn’t replied since, and now I feel bad. Like, I know I did the right thing, but I can’t help wondering if I overreacted. She’s really pretty, and I actually like talking to her, but I just don’t understand how we went from a normal call to her blowing up my phone with stuff like that. Did I make the right move?
