So this happened.
Friday, 1 AM and I get a random DM on Insta from a girl I don’t know. No mutuals. No warning. We start chatting. Surprisingly, we click. Same army brat upbringing, similar careers, both dog parents, and our birthdays are back to back (Jan 9 & 10). Basically cosmic twins.
Saturday, we talk more. Swap numbers. Have a long call. Feels natural.
Sunday, she calls around 6 PM and says, “Wanna meet tonight?”
Me: I’ve got a Monday meeting early but… I’m also a guy with a half-charged phone and no plans. So I say yes.
Asked Reddit where to go. “Cosy Box” came up a lot. Booked it. Showed up.
She arrives at 8:45.
Now… here’s the awkward part. Her IG game was strong. Like, 8.5/10 strong.
But IRL… it felt more like a 6.5. I’m not trying to be shallow, but the difference was jarring. Think “filters and angles” vs. “oh, hi reality.”
Conversation though? Not bad. Not electric, but decent. She laughed a lot (mostly at me, not sure if that’s good or bad). We talked travels, Canada (she lived there for 2 years), flirty banter. I brought orchids (yes, flowers still exist).
Dinner + drinks = INR 8,532. Then we walked around One Horizon. She touched my shoulder twice and… pulled my cheek once? I wasn’t ready.
She’d initially said she wants something serious, but during the date, she made a few comments that hinted at being open to casual stuff too. As we said goodbye around 1 AM, she laughed, “Might as well not go home now.” I smiled politely, called my cab, and ghosted into the night like a confused James Bond.
So now I’m torn.
She’s nice. The date wasn’t a disaster. But something felt… off.
Not sure if I’m just hung up on the physical disconnect or if the vibe was genuinely off.
Do I ask her out again? Or just chalk it up to a well-dressed Sunday experiment?
Also — big thanks to everyone who suggested Cosy Box. That place is elite. Ambience, service, food, crowd — all top notch. We had Truffle Fries, Turkish Balloon Bread, Spicy Salmon Sushi, and Old Fashioned. No notes.
Reddit, I await your wisdom.
