Why people ghost even the date went well?

I (25F) met a British guy (28M) last Thursday, dated for 3 hrs, really enjoyed the date, laughing together all the time. Complimented each other fun constantly.

He paid for all the bills, pulled doors, complimented me, gave me a lift home. Asked me if I’m available next weekend for the next date when I was about to get out of the uber, because his family was coming over to visit hime this weekend.

About physical touch, he hugged me when he saw me, then hugged me a little when there’s a person yelling on the street. So I suppose he doesn’t hate how I look at least.

He still said some nice sweet things after i got home, but the second day his replies reduced hugely and the speed got really slow.

And then the third day, fourth day, fifth day… he simply disappeared. No response, no explanation, no excuses, no nothing.

I felt so confused and upset because I thought it was a great date but apparently he didn’t think so and I don’t know why.

Why would he do that? What could possibly went wrong?

I’m Asian btw, don’t know if it’s related.

Things I want to add

• He didn’t reply to me on Friday and I texted him back on Saturday twice without receiving replies

• I did put in effort, I prepared for the date very carefully (I chose the restaurant and dressed up like an hour), during the date I complimented him and made him laugh a lot too.

• He said he’d like me to wear his jumper as pajamas, stroke my hair, sleep with me etc. after the date, I’m so confused why would he do that if he is not physically attracted to me.

He replied to me on Monday morning, apologised his disappearance and explained he was busy this weekend with family, and “there’s a few big family things have gone on so will be home for a bit”

I guess it partly explains his disappearance, but still not totally convinced. Replying to messages just takes a few minutes. What kind of family meeting would be that occupied?

I don’t know if it’s just an excuse or really something serious happened that he couldn’t even talk with me about it, this is so complicated lol

I asked what happened and then started to focus on my work instead of waiting for him.
